7/16/2011 Agility Trial Results
Yesterday we were at an agility trial; Tilda's last trial was 5/20/11.
Tilda: In Open Jumps With Weaves she NQ'd; 3 refusals, 1 fault, and 1 elimination. Tilda got a case of the sniffs and popped out of the weaves twice. Then she knocked a jump bar; yes even after all the practice she still needs work ;) She went by a jump, which could have been my fault because I didn't get real close to it. She didn't come back and went out of the ring. But, the run wasn't all that bad.
In Open Standard we also NQ'd; 1 refusal, 2 wrong courses, 1 fault. First thing was a fly off on the a-frame; she did that at the last trial. Then right after the a-frame was a jump which she went by. After the jump it was the table, but she took the tire before that. Then, she took a wrong jump and went part way up the a-frame.
Buddy: In Open Jumps With Weaves Buddy NQ'd. I can't say all that happened since I didn't write down the results. Anyhow, he started really good and ran quite fast. The first problem was that he took a wrong jump, next he had trouble with the weaves, and he did quite a bit of running around and took jumps he wasn't supposed to.
In Open Standard Buddy didn't want to take the chute, in the process of trying to get Buddy to take the chute he took a wrong jump. Again he had a little trouble with the weaves. And I think he came back out of the second tunnel. At the end Buddy ran out of the course and came back in by way of jumping the fence :)
Gracie: In Open Jumps with Weaves she missed a jump, did a spin before a jump, which I'm thinking that might have been a refusal. Then again took a wrong jump. I'm not exactly sure what happened at the end, meaning I don't know if there was a little problem or not.
In Open Standard Gracie was running really good! She took the second tunnel the wrong way but the big thing was that she jumped off the teeter. The last jump was a triple bar and she knocked one of the bars. But by that time she had already NQ'd.
So no ribbons, but what can you do. There's always next time. But it was still a nice day and I'm glad it wasn't too hot :)

Pills
Back on the 5th we had an interesting time while trying to give Tilda her Heartworm pill. For some reason she doesn't like taking it anymore. She used to take it without a problem. We would give it to her with peanut butter, but even that isn't good enough to get it down now. So, the other day the peanut butter wasn't working again.
After a little while we took her outside and tried giving it to her out there. It wasn't really a good thing, it involved holding her mouth shut. We thought that maybe if we got it in her mouth, held it shut, and said "fetch," that maybe she would get it down with the excitement. It ended up that we didn't really know what happened. We thought that maybe she got it down, but we still didn't really know if she took it or not.
We had looked quite a bit and didn't see it. I did finally find it, which I was quite happy about. We then got it down with cream cheese without a problem. I had seen that here: akc.org/enewsletter/yourakc/2011/june/ask. It's in the Bark Back section at the bottom.

Happy 4th
Happy 4th of July one day late! :) No, I didn't take Tilda to the parade. Maybe it would have been a good experience, but she would have: 1) Been in a new place. 2) There were a lot of people (which would have been distracting). 3) It was quite a hot day. Tilda usually doesn't walk good in new places, so with all that going on, it could have made it interesting. Even around home she sometimes isn't the best walker. Besides the walking, we were standing in the sun, which I don't think we could have done with Tilda, as it was really hot. She would have been one hot and tired dog. Also, by leaving her home, I didn't have to struggle with her and I could just enjoy the short parade :)
And no, we didn't take her to the fireworks either. We did that the first 4th we had her. That was interesting. She was excited with all the people and stuff going on, but once the fireworks started, she was scared. Lesson learned.

Agility Practice
We were over at Buddy and Gracie's on Monday and did some agility with all the dogs. Since Tilda is in jumping boot camp, I'm not having her jump any jumps in a course. So, for the little bit I did, which was the weaves, dog walk, teeter, and tunnel, she seemed to really be flying through it. Maybe this break from courses is a good thing. Our next trial will be mid July, we'll just have to wait and find out what happens.
