10/30/2010 Trial Pictures And Videos

No action pictures of Tilda, but I have videos. I have action pictures of Buddy and Gracie though.

The trial had placement toys, so this was the toy I picked out for Tilda.

I had some trouble uploading the JWW video. Maybe I'll get it on here soon.

Second Place All Around

Lots of agility results at today's trial! Out of the three dogs Buddy ran first in open standard. He didn't qualify however. Next Tilda ran in novice standard. She also did not Q. We had some things happen, like she missed a jump and then took it the other way, and a little trouble with the weaves, but the big thing was her knocking the bars of the double bar jump. Going back and watching the video, from what I can tell, it looks like Tilda would have Q'd of it wasn't for the jump. Gracie's run in novice standard was good. She qualified and took second which means she got her first Q in standard!

All three dogs ran in novice jumps with weaves. Tilda ran first and qualified with 90 points! Tilda also got second place!Gracie Q'd and got second! That gave her a double Q! Buddy had a very good run. He qualified and got second. That means Buddy got his
Novice Jumps With Weaves Title!
Now Buddy can move on to open jumps with weaves.

Link #2

Okay, now it's time for link #2 in my list.

All Small Dog Breeds

This link is in my list because it has info and pictures for small dog breeds. There are many ways to search for dog breeds in this website, such as alphabetically, watch dogs, and more. Since there are pictures of the breeds, you can see what they look like. Along with the picture there is a lot of info on the breed. The website rates the dog in many ways. Besides the ratings, they write about it too. Lots of good info, check this one out too.

Also, agility trial tomorrow with Tilda. Buddy and Gracie will also be running. Watch for results!

Links

Last night I got an idea that I could write about the links that I have in my "Link List" and why I like them. The "Link List" is on the right side of the page.

So, here we go with link #1:

AKC (American Kennel Club)

I have this link in my list because it's the AKC. It gives you all kinds of info. You can search for events, such as agility, obedience, conformation and more. You can see all the breeds that they recognize along with the breed standards. They have info on getting started in an event. They have a whole bunch of stuff on their website that I'm not going to even mention. Go check it out!

Back To Agility

Haven't been up to a whole lot around here. Few days ago we went to the pet store, so we took Tilda along. One of the things we got Tilda was a chew braid bone. She has been walking around finding places to hide it. It's quite cute.

I've started practicing agility with Tilda. I gave here a break, so it stays fun and she doesn't get over done or bored. The main thing is her jumping. I'm thinking her jumping is just going to take some time. Yesterday was when I started her back up with agility. She has had a break since her last trial, which was October 16th.

Tilda's next trial, along with Buddy and Gracie is October 30th.

Now Tilda's videos. I never said what her times were yesterday. JWW was 30.26 seconds and Standard was 65.75 seconds. She was a little slow on the standard course, I think she was tired.

Double Q

In Novice A, jumps with weaves Tilda qualified and got first with score of 100 points! This was her first Q in JWW. Gracie also ran in novice A, but jumped 12 inches and it was her first AKC trial. She qualified and got first also. Congrats to Gracie! Buddy did not qualify, his next trial is Oct. 30.

In open standard Buddy did not qualify, but maybe in his next one he will get his first Q in open.

In novice A standard Tilda again qualified and got first with 100 points. That gave her the double Q. And of course she didn't knock any jump bars! Gracie ran pretty good, but she slipped off the dog walk a little before the contact. She had a couple other things happen too. But it was not a bad run for her first AKC standard course.

Agility Run Throughs Again

Last night we went with Buddy and Gracie to do agility run throughs again. Tilda did better last week than this week. She didn't seem as focused, she had some trouble with the weave poles, she knocked some jump bars, and I think she did some fly offs. She needs more work on the jumping. After she did some fly offs I was really on her. She did pretty good with her touching then. I don't want a bad habit.

Buddy also wasn't as focused and didn't like the tunnels. We ended up shortening up one of the tunnels and ran him through.

Gracie was doing pretty good. I ran her one time through the standard course. One thing she needs a little more work on is rear crosses. But over all she did good.

Jumping

Tonight I was practicing with Tilda on her jumping. I don't always want to N.Q. because of Tilda knocking jump bars :) I found a website that had some ideas on why dogs knock jump bars and how to fix it. So one of the reasons was that the dog jumps too early and hits the jump bar. That sounds like Tilda :) To fix it they said to put a bar on the ground, (I'm using a board) and the dog has to jump between the bar and the jump. After time then make the bar (or board like I'm using) smaller.

The other reason that sounded like Tilda was that the dog jumps flat and fast hitting the jump bar. To fix that problem they said to put the jumps close together, so that after the dog takes a jump it has to take the next one right away. I have been doing that. But it also said that after time start adding other equipment before the jumps and after the jumps, which might not be a bad idea for Tilda.

Maybe practicing these with Tilda will help.

Tilda's First Q!

Tilda qualified for the first time in novice A standard agility! She also got first place! Her time was 57.06 seconds and a score of 90.

In novice A jumps with weaves Tilda had a perfect run, but she knocked the bars on the double bar jump :( Besides her knocking the bars it was perfect. She did everything I told her to do and didn't take anything she wasn't supposed to. It was a really good run!

In novice B jumps with weaves Buddy did not qualify :( He only needs one more Q in novice jumps with weaves.

In open standard Buddy also did not qualify :( He still has not got a Q in open. Maybe his next trial he will Q.
