Is This Tilda Proof? - Rope Frisbee
Tilda just got this toy on Tuesday the 20th. It did not last long at all.
What it did look like:
It's a pretty neat toy. It would have been fun to play fetch/frisbee with this outside. The only problem is that it is already in two pieces.
What it looks like now:
The rope actually did come apart on Tuesday, but I had put it back together. But now today. . .
Tilda did have fun playing tug-of-war with it though :)
This toy is not Tilda proof.

Is This Tilda Proof? - Bear
Tilda was given Bear awhile ago. (Yep, I'm behind on posting her toys.) He is part of the Forest Cozy pack.
What he did look like:
Buy your own Bear here: Forest Cozy - Bear
Or buy the whole pack here: Forest Cozies
(I didn't pay that much for Tilda's)
What Bear now looks like:
What Bear has lost:
Both (two) squeakers
Some of his stuffing
Two legs
That's okay though, Tilda has fun with her toys. She's a true Terrier :)

Two Qs! - 12/9/2011 Trial Results
We did a second day at the agility trial!
Tilda: We didn't qualify in Excellent A Standard. She didn't go right in the tunnel, which could have been my fault because I kind of turned and didn't get her right in there. She also did a fly off on the teeter. The a-frame and dog walk were okay (there were no fly offs, that I know of), but she still hopped off instead of coming to the end. Back to the teeter, it really didn't matter at that point though because the tunnel incident had already NQ'd us. It was still a very nice run; better than yesterday! :)
In Open Jumpers with Weaves Tilda had a great run! But, we NQ'd because of two knocked jump bars.
Gracie: She Qualified in Excellent A Jumpers with Weaves with 100 points and got second place!!!!
In Excellent A standard Gracie NQ'd. She just had some little problems, but her first was not stopping on the table.
Buddy: In Excellent A Standard he just had a little trouble, but it was still a nice run.
In Open Jumpers with Weaves Buddy Qualified with 100 points and got first place!!!!!!
It was a nice trial and between the two days each dog got one Q!

One Q! - 12/8/11 Trial Results
We had a good day at an agility trial today.
Tilda: She Qualified with 100 points and got first place in Open Jumpers with Weaves! It was a beautiful run! Her time was 27.63 sec out of 43 sec!
In our Excellent Standard run we had some good parts and some not so good parts :)
Gracie: She had a very nice run in Excellent Standard, just not quite good enough for a Q.
I didn't see Gracie's Excellent Jumpers run, but I hear she NQ'd. Don't know what happened though.
Buddy: He had a very nice run in Open Jumpers! He had a refusal and a wrong course. If it wasn't for the wrong course he would have Q'd!
Buddy also had a good run in Excellent Standard, he just had some weave trouble.

Fruitables Dog Treats
A little over a week ago we went to the pet store to get Tilda more food, treats, and can't forget about those clean up bags :) I got Tilda some little sample packs of Fruitables Chewy Skinny Minis. I've never got these before, but I like them (not that I've tried them). They are chewy treats; the kind that can be broken. I like that, since Tilda is a little dog, I don't always want her to have a full treat, such as when we are going for a walk and practicing 'heel.' I got her the Apple Bacon Flavor and the Pumpkin and Mango Flavor. We've only tried the Apple Bacon Flavor, I actually just used them up today and Tilda did like them :)
The first three ingredients:
Sweet Potatoes
Oatmeal
Ground Brown Rice
And for those wondering if Apple or Bacon is really in there:
Apples, the 11th ingredient
Bacon, the 9th ingredient
Natural Bacon Flavor, the 14th ingredient
Also, they are made in the USA. Their promise states: Free of gluten, Wheat, Corn, Soy, and Artificial Flavors or Colors.
Enjoy :)

Is This Tilda Proof? - The Candy Corn
At the last trial we were at in October on the 29th, they had placement toys. Tilda placed in the standard course so we had a choice of a toy or a treat, tuna fudge. I chose the toy. They had the Baa Baa Sheep again or stuffing filled Candy Corns with squeakers. I picked out a candy corn for Tilda. I thought that they were a fun and festive little toy.
Buy a festive toy here: Candy Corn Dog Toy
(If it's not exactly the same as this one, it's close)
This is what it did look like:
At least Tilda liked it :) Lets just say this, we were at the trial on Saturday, not even a week ago, and the toy is already in the garbage.
The end result:
What can I say, but that the toy is in two pieces, the squeak is out, and so is the stuffing. I will say that it did seem like the kind of toy Tilda would get into :)
This toy is not Tilda proof.

10/29/2011 Trial Results- Two Qualifying Runs!
Yesterday we were at an agility trial. Our third one this month.
Tilda: In Excellent Standard she qualified and had a perfect 100 point run! We got first place too! She sure seemed to be running fast. Our time was 56.11 seconds out of 75 seconds. So, we had plenty of time.
In Open Jumpers with Weaves we didn't qualify. Tilda started the weave poles wrong, knocked two jump bars, and went by a jump, then took it the wrong way, and then she took it the right way. Oh well, it wasn't all that bad of a run! She also seemed a little slower, but we made time, which was 41.91 seconds out of 45 seconds.
Gracie: In Excellent Standard she didn't qualify. Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what all happened.
In Excellent Jumpers with Weaves Gracie also NQ'd. It was a great run though. I think the only thing that happened was a knocked jump bar.
Buddy: In Open Standard he Qualified and took First Place with 100 Points!!!!! Way to go Buddy!!! That was his third STD Q, so he now has his Open Agility Title!!!!
In Open Jumpers with Weaves Buddy didn't qualify. It was a pretty good run though.

10/15/11 Agility Trial Results- Double Q By Gracie
We were at an agility trial today. It was a cold and windy day :)
Tilda: In Open Jumpers With Weaves we didn't qualify. We had a refusal and wrong course. The wrong course was kind of my fault though. I got confused and forgot to do my front cross. Otherwise, it was a great run!!! And there were no knocked jump bars! Tilda's time was 36.33 seconds out of 45 seconds.
In Excellent Standard we NQ'd in this one too. When we came to the table, she jumped on then jumped off. But, I got her right back on without a problem. Then when we finished the course, somebody wasn't listening :) That somebody was Tilda, she went out of the ring. There were no knocked jump bars in this run either!! Her time was 54.50 seconds out of 75 seconds. It was still a very nice run and not bad for our first excellent run!
Gracie: In Open Jumpers with Weaves she qualified with 100 points, got first place, and her Open Agility Jumpers Title!!!!! (OAJ title)
In Open Standard Gracie qualified with 90 points, got first place, and her Open Agility Title!!!! (OA title)
Buddy: In Open Jumpers with Weaves he didn't qualify.
In Open Standard Buddy NQ'd again. But, on the bright side, he did his tunnel and chute!! He has been having trouble with those.

Agility Trial Results- New Title And Q
We had a fun day at an agility trial today.
Tilda: In Open Jumpers with Weaves we didn't qualify due to two knocked jump bars. But I'm happy with the way the run went. She ran the course really good and listened well. She took everything she was supposed to and didn't take anything she wasn't supposed to :) Her time was 3l.34 out of 44 seconds.
In Open Standard Tilda qualified with 95 points, got first place, and got her Open Title!! Her time was 56.91 out of 77 seconds. Just about a year ago Tilda got her first Q at this same trial and it was also in standard :)
Today I did quite a few front crosses and she seemed to handle those well.
Gracie: In Open Jumpers with Weaves she didn't qualify either. I'm not sure what all happened or her time.
In Open Standard Gracie Qualified with 100 points and got first place!!! It was a perfect run!
Buddy: In Open Jumpers with Weaves Buddy did really well!!! He just took one wrong jump :( He was so close to a Q.
In Open Standard Buddy started out good, until he came to obstacle #7; the chute. He also did a fly off on the a-frame. I'm not sure if anything else happened in his run.
It was a fun day and the weather was so nice!

Is This Tilda Proof? Mr. Paddle The Forest Cozy
I got these Forest Cozy toys from Costco for Tilda. It was one of those really good deals! They came all together in a four pack and it ended up being less than two dollars per toy! And, aren't they cute?
Buy your own Forest Cozies here: Four Pack Forest Cozies. Or buy them separate here: Beaver, Raccoon, Chipmunk, and Bear. They are more expensive than what I paid.
I didn't give them all to Tilda at once. Have to let them last a little while :) So, I gave her the beaver to start with.
It didn't take long for him to get ripped up :)
He had two squeakers, one in the body and one in the head; both are out. As you can see from the picture the squeakers were wrapped up in a cloth. Which I think is a really great idea. It wouldn't be as easy for it to slide down the throat. Anyhow, three of the four legs are off and in case you're wondering, the tail is still on :) And the bow around his neck came off easily.
He also has a big rip in his side:
Another plus~ 100% natural stuffing! The stuffing was a little harder to clean up though. I don't know if that was because it was natural or just a different stuffing was used. But, Tilda had fun and natural is good!
This toy is not Tilda proof.

Agility Run Throughs
Okay, this post is WAY over due. But, I'm going to post it anyway.
Weeks ago we went to do some agility run throughs at a kennel club that holds trials. The last time we were there was for the trial on 7/16/11. It was a real nice night and not many people there. It's put on really nice with two rings, a jumpers and standard courses set at Excellent level. It is nice to just go and do some agility when there is a nice course set to run on and practice.
Tilda does still need work on the jumping as she was knocking bars. But, it was good to get her on an a-frame for the practice. It was set for the bigger dogs, so it was quite steep for Tilda, but with practice she did her touches; two feet on and two feet off. I don't think there were any fly offs though!
Maybe those scents she found when we trialed there in July were still out there :) The first time running jumps with weaves that night she got interested in scents. The second time running JWW I ran with a treat in my hand and she ran it pretty good. It was kind of a fun course to run because you could really run on it. In fact I even slipped when running it :)
It would have been fun to have some videos of our runs, but as you can see, I don't have any.

7/22/11 Agility
Just Tilda did an agility trial on Friday the 22nd; no Buddy and Gracie at this one.
Our first run was Open Jumps with Weaves. It was actually a pretty good run, just not quite good enough for a Q. In the weaves she missed one so I had to take her back and start her over. In the process of getting her to start over she took a wrong jump. Then while running the course she saw some of the family watching and went over to say hi :) She stayed in the ring though! She was also a little bit over time: 54.36 seconds out of 53 seconds.
In Open Standard Tilda did a fly off on the a-frame. I have to work on that; this was the 3rd time she has done a fly off on the a-frame. We then had some problems by some jumps and she knocked the bars on the double. She also didn't go down on the table. I know it doesn't matter since there is no rule about that now, but I still like her to go down. She did sit though. Anyhow, her weaves were beautiful!!!! Time: 65.03 sec out of 69 sec.

7/16/2011 Agility Trial Results
Yesterday we were at an agility trial; Tilda's last trial was 5/20/11.
Tilda: In Open Jumps With Weaves she NQ'd; 3 refusals, 1 fault, and 1 elimination. Tilda got a case of the sniffs and popped out of the weaves twice. Then she knocked a jump bar; yes even after all the practice she still needs work ;) She went by a jump, which could have been my fault because I didn't get real close to it. She didn't come back and went out of the ring. But, the run wasn't all that bad.
In Open Standard we also NQ'd; 1 refusal, 2 wrong courses, 1 fault. First thing was a fly off on the a-frame; she did that at the last trial. Then right after the a-frame was a jump which she went by. After the jump it was the table, but she took the tire before that. Then, she took a wrong jump and went part way up the a-frame.
Buddy: In Open Jumps With Weaves Buddy NQ'd. I can't say all that happened since I didn't write down the results. Anyhow, he started really good and ran quite fast. The first problem was that he took a wrong jump, next he had trouble with the weaves, and he did quite a bit of running around and took jumps he wasn't supposed to.
In Open Standard Buddy didn't want to take the chute, in the process of trying to get Buddy to take the chute he took a wrong jump. Again he had a little trouble with the weaves. And I think he came back out of the second tunnel. At the end Buddy ran out of the course and came back in by way of jumping the fence :)
Gracie: In Open Jumps with Weaves she missed a jump, did a spin before a jump, which I'm thinking that might have been a refusal. Then again took a wrong jump. I'm not exactly sure what happened at the end, meaning I don't know if there was a little problem or not.
In Open Standard Gracie was running really good! She took the second tunnel the wrong way but the big thing was that she jumped off the teeter. The last jump was a triple bar and she knocked one of the bars. But by that time she had already NQ'd.
So no ribbons, but what can you do. There's always next time. But it was still a nice day and I'm glad it wasn't too hot :)

Pills
Back on the 5th we had an interesting time while trying to give Tilda her Heartworm pill. For some reason she doesn't like taking it anymore. She used to take it without a problem. We would give it to her with peanut butter, but even that isn't good enough to get it down now. So, the other day the peanut butter wasn't working again.
After a little while we took her outside and tried giving it to her out there. It wasn't really a good thing, it involved holding her mouth shut. We thought that maybe if we got it in her mouth, held it shut, and said "fetch," that maybe she would get it down with the excitement. It ended up that we didn't really know what happened. We thought that maybe she got it down, but we still didn't really know if she took it or not.
We had looked quite a bit and didn't see it. I did finally find it, which I was quite happy about. We then got it down with cream cheese without a problem. I had seen that here: akc.org/enewsletter/yourakc/2011/june/ask. It's in the Bark Back section at the bottom.

Happy 4th
Happy 4th of July one day late! :) No, I didn't take Tilda to the parade. Maybe it would have been a good experience, but she would have: 1) Been in a new place. 2) There were a lot of people (which would have been distracting). 3) It was quite a hot day. Tilda usually doesn't walk good in new places, so with all that going on, it could have made it interesting. Even around home she sometimes isn't the best walker. Besides the walking, we were standing in the sun, which I don't think we could have done with Tilda, as it was really hot. She would have been one hot and tired dog. Also, by leaving her home, I didn't have to struggle with her and I could just enjoy the short parade :)
And no, we didn't take her to the fireworks either. We did that the first 4th we had her. That was interesting. She was excited with all the people and stuff going on, but once the fireworks started, she was scared. Lesson learned.

We were over at Buddy and Gracie's on Monday and did some agility with all the dogs. Since Tilda is in jumping boot camp, I'm not having her jump any jumps in a course. So, for the little bit I did, which was the weaves, dog walk, teeter, and tunnel, she seemed to really be flying through it. Maybe this break from courses is a good thing. Our next trial will be mid July, we'll just have to wait and find out what happens.

Carrot Treats
Early this month I took a private agility lesson to help with Tilda's jumping problem. The lesson was good and I am continuing to work with Tilda. I was given five different exercises to work on with Tilda and to practice with her for about five minutes a day (not doing all five exercises though.) Because I have to practice everyday, I need to use different kinds of treats to keep it fun, fresh, and interesting for Tilda. One thing that I found, is to cut up carrots, put them in a bag, and add a little bit of peanut butter. Of course plain carrots would work, but the point of the peanut butter is to make the treats more special, something more tasty. Now sure, your hands do get messy when training, but it's just peanut butter and carrots. And plus, it's a veggie for your dog :)

California Natural Treats
A little while ago I bought some new treats for Tilda. They are California Natural Chicken Meal and Rice Formula Healthbars. I got them because they are a bigger hard treat, which I thought would be good for her teeth. These work out really good to give her when we leave her home by herself and plus she gets something good for her teeth. And Tilda likes them!

Agility results #2 - 5/21/2011
I didn't do a second day with Tilda at the agility trial, but Buddy and Gracie did. I wasn't there, but this is what I heard happened yesterday:
Buddy: In Open Jumps with Weaves he NQ'd. In Open Standard he also NQ'd.
Gracie: In Open Jumps with Weaves she NQ'd due to a knocked jump bar. In Open Standard Gracie NQ'd due to another knocked jump bar. The jump bars were the only reason she didn't Q.

Agility Results
We were at an agility trial today. The results are as follows:
Tilda: In Open Jumps with Weaves we didn't qualify. She took a jump she wasn't supposed to take and knocked a jump bar. At the end of the run, Tilda kind of ran out of the ring, but she came back in. The Open Standard run had some more problems than JWW and we NQ'd. Some of the things that happened was a fly off on the a-frame, just running around the ring and not being real focused, knocking a jump bar, taking a wrong jump, and popping out of the weave poles. But, she did go down on the table :) Also, Tilda got both permanent jump height measurements. The first measurement was 10 inches and the second was 10 1/2 inches. The other two trials we have gone to after Tilda turned two years old didn't have any VMOs.
Buddy: In Open Jumps with Weaves he NQ'd. He again didn't like the tunnel, there was a handling mistake, and he knocked a jump bar. In Open Standard he also NQ'd. I don't think I'll put down all that happened :)
Gracie: In Open Jumps with Weaves she NQ'd. She took the tunnel the wrong way and if anything else happened it wasn't much. In Open Standard Gracie Q'd with 85 points and got first place!! The 15 deducted points was jumping off the table, going in the tunnel the wrong way, and not going in the chute the first time. We had a total of six runs between all the dogs and Gracie was the only one that Q'd. That gives her her first Q in Standard. Gracie also got her measurements for her permanent height card since her two year birthday was just yesterday.
Buddy and Gracie will both be running tomorrow, so they get another try :)

Buddy and Gracie Agility Trial Results
Buddy and Gracie were at an agility trial today.
I wasn't there but this is what I heard:
Buddy: In Open Standard he didn't qualify. On the dog walk he slipped and lost his balance, he kind of fell and jumped off. But he was fine and just did a couple jumps as they headed off the course. In Open Jumps with Weaves Buddy also NQ'd. He wouldn't do the weave poles. They just went ahead and did the rest of the course having fun.
Gracie: In Open Standard she had some problems and NQ'd. In Open Jumps with Weaves Gracie Q'd with 100 points and got first place! That gives Gracie two Qs in Open JWW.

Back At Agility
We are back at agility. I have given Tilda a little break from it, I don't like to over do it. Today I set up the jumps and worked on her jumping. We are back outside. When it was winter, if I wanted to practice any jumping, I had to do it in the basement. Now we can be more spread out. I'll probably get the other equipment up soon too. Our next trial is May 20th, less than two weeks away!

Frozen
Yesterday after our walk, I was going to do some yard clean up. Well, when I went to get the pooper scooper out of the bucket where it is kept, I found this. . .
As you can tell, we have some snow here. The snow in the bucket froze around the pooper scooper :)
