Charlie And Phoebe

I'm dog sitting for the neighbors while they are out of town. The dogs are Cavachons, Charlie and Phoebe, the ones I've taken care of before. I started today and my last day will be Thursday at noon. They are almost seven months old already.

Here are some pictures of them.

Buddy Agility Results

Buddy didn't qualify at the agility trial yesterday. Maybe next time. I wasn't there but I guess Buddy was stubborn on the table and wouldn't go down on the table in open standard. Otherwise Buddy did great, but they missed the time by one second. He was six seconds over which equals 12 points deducted plus one refusal which equals 5 points deducted. That equals a total of 17 points deducted. So the total score came in as 83 points. (You need at least 85 points to Q.)

In novice jumps with weaves Buddy had a wrong course. So a N.Q. there too. I guess the courses were hard with lots of traps and there weren't many dogs who qualified.

Destroying Mr. R

Here are two videos of Tilda playing with/destroying her raccoon Mr. R. Yes he is still around, but he isn't Tilda Proof. :)

Tilda has a strong jaw. :)

Nothing Really New

There really isn't much new around here. Tilda likes leather. She rolls on it and also just plays with it. It sure is funny when she rolls on it. :)

Tilda was fast doing agility in the back yard. I didn't have a real set course, I kind of did different stuff when I ran it. It is a lot of fun to run when Tilda is so fast! It is funny, if she is tired she will go under the table instead of going on it. I also worked with Tilda on jumping. She knocked some bars out there today. It seems if I'm by her, not in front of her, she jumps better.

Buddy will be at another agility trial tomorrow. Tilda will not be doing this one.

Agility Class Results #12

Tilda did great last night at class. It was our last class in the session, but we will be taking another one. We have a week off and then we start the new session. I don't know if Tilda needs any more practice there, but it is fun and good to get her out of the back yard and around other dogs. There was a different dog at class last night that I knew from when I did classes with Buddy, but Tilda never met her. She is a Husky and I wasn't sure how that was going to go over, I didn't want Tilda getting scared again. Tilda did pretty good with her though. They both seemed like they wanted to play.

Anyways, Tilda did great with agility. We ran the full course right away and then worked on the parts each dog had trouble with. Tilda's hard spot was that the tunnel and dog walk were right next to each other. Tilda had to go through the tunnel but she started going up the dog walk. So, we all worked on that part and then we worked on the parts the other dogs had trouble. Then we ran the full course again. Tilda had a little trouble in the full course the second time, she started taking the a-frame instead of a tunnel. She didn't do that the first time. Her first course time was 51 seconds and her second course time was 61 seconds. Not bad for a 18 obstacle course.

I also worked with Tilda on jumping a little. She jumps so early she sometimes knocks a jump bar. So the instructor had me try something.

Gracie is still in our class and will be doing another session with us. She is doing pretty good. It won't be long and she will be doing a trial. Gracie will be 15 months on August 19th.

Tilda's First Trial

In novice jumps with weaves Tilda didn't qualify but ran good. There were a few little things that happened, but it was a fun course to run. I think she hit the first jump bar too. Her time was 33.41 seconds and the time she had to make was 43 seconds. We just had some things happen that gave us the N.Q. Buddy also got an N.Q. however I don't know his time. He did do pretty good though.

In novice standard agility Tilda again got an N.Q. There were some things that happened in this run too, including that she ran out of the ring! So we never did finish the course so there is no time. After coming out of the tunnel she had monster energy; the zoom zooms. That is when she ran out of the ring.

In open standard agility Buddy too got an N.Q. While climbing the a-frame Buddy also got the zoom zooms.
We both had downs on the table.

So both Buddy and Tilda didn't Q today. There is always next time. Either way it was good practice for Tilda. It was a fun time even though no Qs

Getting Ready

I have done a little agility practice with Tilda today getting her ready for the agility trial tomorrow. We'll see how she does. Of course I'm hoping for a Q, but being the first trial you never really know what's going to happen. I also did a little clean up grooming on Tilda.

Agility Class Results #11

Tilda did so much better at agility class this week! We had a week off because of the 4th, the last class we had Tilda was slow and scared. This class she was just about her normal self. Maybe she could have been a little faster, but it was fine. She did pretty good over all. Her final course time was one minute and nine seconds, not bad. There were some little things that happened like she took the table when she wasn't supposed to. She also took the a-frame when she wasn't supposed to. Some other little things happened too, but nothing bad. We got to class a little earlier and we were the first ones at class so I got to warm up with Tilda off leash. Tilda seems to be over her fear; yes! :)

With a good course time like that I think she is ready for the agility trial this Saturday. Buddy will also be running at this same trial.

Is This Tilda Proof? - The Rope Toy

This is a toy Tilda has had for awhile. It was a toy we got when she was a puppy. This is what it looks like.

The toy really doesn't look any different than when we bought it for her. So. . .
Is this toy Tilda proof? Yes, it actually is Tilda proof.

Tilda's Point Of View

From Tilda's point of view while she is laying in the grass as it's getting darker.

Life is good. My tennis ball is right next to me and I am surrounded by nightlights that flicker on and off. My master is swimming while I'm laying in the nice soft grass surrounded by fleas. Fleas! Oh, right I have flea and tick on now. I don't have to worry about getting itchy. Life is good. I had a good snack of raspberries earlier. The bushes aren't far off. I can go back later for more. The life of a dog is good.

Chip

Yesterday I was working on training a friend's dog. His name is Chip and he is a 4 year old Chihuahua x Papillon mix. We basically worked on obedience with Chip. He has good sits and he also walks good too. He walked at my side most of the time, which I like. :) So I didn't have to work on having him learn to walk at my side. I do need to work with him more that when we stop walking he sits. But that's okay for now. We worked on comes a lot and he was already getting better at them by time he left!! Chip does like some treats, but he also seems to really like attention. So, we were trying to give him attention and praise plus a treat when he came. We tried working on some downs but didn't get real far on those, maybe next time. Once he has some of the obedience down I want to try a little agility with him. He is pretty fast, so he might be good at it.

Crazy Day

Yesterday was kind of an interesting day. To start with while I was taking Tilda for her walk it started raining. So we were walking in the rain for a little bit. Then when it started raining harder I thought we better start running. I will say it was fun walking and running in the rain. When we got back home I waited for the rain to settle down a little and we finished our walk running in a little rain. I know I didn't have to walk any more, but it was fun running in the rain.

When we came inside Tilda had monster energy. The rain maybe gave her all the energy. :) We call it "zoom zooms" when she runs all over the house.

Then a little while later Tilda was taken outside to play fetch. Keep in mind it just rained and the grass was just mowed. While she was outside she also laid down in the wet freshly cut grass. I don't suggest taking your dog out in freshly cut and wet grass. :) You can guess when she came inside she was all wet and grassy. Then to make things worse she jumped on my bed and got grass and grass stains on my bad.

Later Tilda was under my bed and my brother said he had picked out two bugs from her face and wasn't sure if they were ticks. I did a little check over and didn't see anything. I thought maybe my brother had killed the bugs as he pulled them off.

But, later Tilda was on my bed and a little bug was found on that hopped. I hope you are catching on to this. I couldn't kill the little bug and ended up flushing him down the toilet. Maybe my brother didn't kill those bugs after all. Another one was found and ended up getting washed down the sink before we could look at it. And still another one was found, I took this one outside and this one did get killed so we got a good look at it. It was looking like the pictures of fleas I had just looked up online. After I found one more it was decided I should give Tilda a bath before bed. So she got a bath and then was blow dried.

I'm thinking she got the fleas from laying in the grass outside earlier. Which would mean she just got them. Maybe having the grass mowed stirred them up. She now has Frontline flea and tick on. It was just interesting, because we have never seen any fleas on her.

What a night! I have never given Tilda a bath before bed.

Is This Tilda Proof? - The Sock

This was an old sock my sister took and filled with stuffing for Tilda. Tilda really liked it. I think she knew that there was stuffing in there and that she needed to get it out of there. Actually my sister did make two toys for her, but we are just focusing on the one. So. . .

Here is what the sock toy once looked like.

Now what the sock toy looks like.

All the stuffing. There was a little more that I didn't
get in the picture.

Is this toy Tilda proof? No, but she sure had fun. :)

Just for your information the other sock toy didn't even last 24 hours. :)

New This Year

We grow raspberries in our yard and this year Tilda has been going in the bushes and walking around. :) Then when you call her she pops her head out and comes. It is pretty cute. It is a good thing she has a rough coat, or otherwise she would be a mess. Last year, because she was just a pup we had her leashed a lot so she didn't have the freedom to walk in the bushes. But, she sure did like eating the berries. :)

Agility Run Through

We did an agility run through again. It was the same location as the run through in May. Tilda did good. She started slowing down after we were there for a little while. This time one of the pieces of equipment was the teeter. This teeter banged and of course scared Tilda. It is good to get her around other teeters that bang. The good thing is that the trial we are doing in a couple weeks is on grass. Sorry I forgot my camera, so no pictures of the run through.

Yesterday I groomed Tilda. I didn’t spend too much time grooming her. I’m going to try to groom her more often, that way it won’t take so long.

Buddy and Gracie's House

Yesterday we were over at Buddy and Gracie's house with Tilda of course. We did do some agility with the dogs. The only problem is that they get all tired out from playing with each other. A little later in the day Tilda did get more energy and was a little faster doing agility. Maybe because I was having her work for a tennis ball. :) Even at their house Tilda is a fetch monster. Tilda and Buddy seemed fine together. I don't know what happened the last time that scared Tilda.

Is This Tilda Proof? – Mr. R #2

Well, you saw the picture of Tilda’s new toy, Mr. R. Now it is time to see if it is Tilda proof.
